Raymond J. Davis, former General Director of SIM, tells of God's work in Wallamo, in the mountains of Ethiopia. Davis relates the experiences of Wallamo men and women, who came to Christ and were transformed. When the missionaries came in 1928, there was not a single Wallamo believer, nothing of the Bible in their language and no knowledge of Jesus. In 1937, when the missionaries had to leave because of the Italian occupation, there were 48 baptized believers organized into a small church. The Italian military and political authorities fought to suppress the church, and church members were imprisoned, flogged, and treated cruelly. But the national leaders of the church, continued to share the good news. This is an exciting tale of God's work among the Wallamos and the growth of the church to 10,000 in five years, even in the midst of foreign occupation. {The sequel, "The Winds of God", is also available}.
